My partner Dawson and I are doing the Common Yellowthroat for our project. The Common Yellowthroat lives in wet grassy and marshland areas. It eats spiders and insects. ..MMM. They are about five inches long. The males are colored green and yellow, and the females are colored brown and yellow. They are most active during the summer. They are preyed on mostly by snakes, snapping turtles, raccoons, and opossums. The common yellowthroat migrates from southern U.S to Mexico. They lay eggs from about May to June and June to July. They live about 10 years long. When they fly they sing flight songs. The females don’t stay with their mates. When their young are born, they are ready to leave the nest in about one week. They are important to nature because they are food for larger animals.
