This flower can have 30 -50 blooms per plant. It usually flowers in August and September each year. It likes damp areas, usually growing in moist thickets, meadows, swamp edges and along roadsides.
The name aster comes from an ancient Greek word for star because of the shape of the flower. Another interesting thing about asters is that some of them can repel insects. Some aboriginal people made aster tea to relieve earache, stomach ache and fever.
